WABC Members......

 Wow!!!

This has been and continues to be an exciting and memorable fall season for athletics!  So many good things have occurred this fall in the lives of the Whitesboro students, both on and off the field.  Yes, we have had our struggles... no, not everything is perfect, but...there is movement towards obtaining a positive outlook and an attitude of overcoming obstacles.  That is the real goal to instill in our children; a goal much bigger than scoreboards.  The success of winning seasons is an added bonus!

So far, WISD fall athletes have experienced the following successes:

·        Ladycats Varsity Volleyball is in postseason play, winning the first round against Bonham and becoming the 2011 Bi-District Champs. Come support your Ladycats this Saturday, Nov 5th, 2:00 pm at McKinney High School, as they progress to the 2nd round of playoffs against Carrollton Ranchview!

·        Bearcat Cross Country teams have completed their district meets with WMS runners,  Alix Lambke and Nic Butts, winning first in District and obtaining 2 of the fastest times in the state! The WHS girl's team finished 3rd in District and is progressing to Regionals this Sat, Nov 5th, in Arlington. The WHS boy's team finished 5th in District.  Come out this Sat and support the Ladycat Cross Country team in Arlington!

·        Bearcat Varsity Football now has one of the most winning seasons ever with a record of 2-2 in District and an overall record of 6-3 this season. The win against Pilot Point will give our Bearcat Football team a history making night as the first team to go to the playoffs in 100 years!  Come support your Bearcat football team tonight for the win on our home field!!

·        The Bearcat Golf team competed during their fall golf season with a first place win in the Coyote Classic! Charlie Hayes received the low score individual award as well.

·       The Bearcat Tennis Team completed their fall tennis season with much success. They  defeated Prosper, Bonham and Princeton !

Let these athletes know you support them and are proud of them! Thank you for all you do in the lives of the kids in Whitesboro.

Sincerely,

Cindy Labhart

Letter from the President......

Whitesboro Athletic Booster Club (WABC) has grown tremendously in the past year.  Since January 2010, we have implemented a multitude of organizational efforts for the purpose of re-structuring and re-building WABC. Our desire is to enrich the lives of the 160 middle school and 150 high school students participating in WISD athletics. As a result of the commitment and hard work of approximately 15- 20 officers,  12 chairpersons and several new members, we have been able to offer increased resources for the Whitesboro Athletic Department. We have increased our membership both with individual families and businesses, improved our financial stability, developed a delegation of leadership for future growth and have had the opportunity to support young people at both Whitesboro High School and Middle School.

The beginning of the 2010-11 Whitesboro school year was packed with activity for WABC. We sought business/individual memberships and are grateful to all who have shown their support for the athletes of Whitesboro. These businesses and local families have enabled athletes to participate in team building activities led by college students, to attend a community Fellowship of Christian Athletes event in Gunter and in the spring to receive college scholarships funded by WABC.  Additionally we have sponsored six different mentoring activities this fall for athletes,  sponsored the community Tailgate Party to kick off the school year, provided concessions at all volleyball and football events in conjunction with other school organizations, sought to increase school spirit through the sale of Bearcat spirit items and provided recognition for athletes during special events. In the near future, WABC is excited to extend financial support to the Whitesboro Athletic Department for those necessary items requested by the coaching staff that will improve the quality of performance for our young athletes.

WABC recognizes the importance of a supportive relationship between athletes, parents, coaches and community to establish a foundation for success within an athletic program. In order for our young people to thrive; we as caring adults must seek to encourage our athletes, to lift each other up and hold each other accountable to act within an attitude of edification! This is an attitude of building each other up, moving forward beyond obstacles unified and coming to each other's aid for an overall improvement of the group.  We hope you will join us in creating an environment where our athletes can flourish as young people of character.

The WABC leadership extends our sincere appreciation to Athletic Director, Eddie Gill, for the hours spent offering guidance, support and assistance toward the reorganization of WABC. Likewise, we want to extend our  sincere appreciation to the WABC members, coaches and people of this community who have influenced the lives of the young people in Whitesboro by offering their talents, skills and resources through genuine commitment and fellowship. If the second half of the year is as productive as the first, we have a lot to look forward to!

Sincerely,

Cindy Labhart
